Recently we have had quite a few black widows making their home across our front porch every night. The mama spider hatched a ton of babies out of about three egg sacks she had nestled under one of our shutters. This created a big problem because instead of the one black widow, we ended up with what seemed like a hundred.
Since I didn’t want to kill them, I had to find a way to keep them from making their webs across our porch. After some research, I found a handy recipe to make an easy spider repellent.
Easy Spider Repellent
Ingredients | Directions | Purpose |
---|---|---|
Water | Fill small spray bottle about 2/3 full. | Base |
Dish soap | Add 2-3 drops of concentrated dish soap. | Carrier for EO |
Essential Oil | Add 15-20 drops of essential oil. | Citrus or Mint |
Once I had the ingredients well mixed in a spray bottle, I went outside and liberally sprayed down all of the cracks, crevices, nooks, and crannies Of our front porch area. When night fell, I went to see if my experiment had worked, and it did!
I was so pleased with the results of the mixture considering my reluctance to use harsh or toxic chemicals. It is also quite a money saver instead of buying pricey pesticides at your local department store.
